Miele well-positioned with fine wine storage units

In the safest of hands

Bringing the cellar into the home: Wine storage units from Miele offer not only a perfect alternative to a cellar most homes don't even have anyway, they also come in a convincingly exclusive design. Stainless steel and glass on the outside, select materials on the inside, stylishly designed with convincing features and controls – Miele's relaunched range is bound to whet the appetite.

All four wine storage units offer the ideal setting for the long-term storage of select wines. Alongside two models with a stainless-steel door, two further glass-fronted offerings are set to compete with even the most cavernous wine cellars. These units are truly prestigious, offering fine wines an optimum microclimate. Depending on the model, they are able to accommodate 162 or 187 bottles (0.75 l Bordeaux size). And to present the finest 'grand cru' in appropriate style, units with a glass door feature a presenter, putting individual bottles in centre stage.

The temperature on all units can be set to between 5°C and 22°C; to ensure that corks do not become dry and brittle, humidity is maintained at 60% to 70%. This is achieved by DynaCool, Miele's dynamic refrigeration system. A fan circulates air so that temperature and humidity levels remain constant in the entire unit interior. The current temperature is shown in a clear and concise display, with settings clearly visible without having to open the door on glass-fronted models. Miele ensures optimum storage conditions with a low-vibration design so that fine wines are not unsettled and can mature in peace. An active charcoal filter prevents unpleasant odours accessing the unit interior and destroying the bouquet of the wines. If the appliance is installed in a very cold place, a cabinet heater is fitted to ensure that the required storage temperature is maintained.

Should the door be left ajar or should there be a power cut, an alarm will sound. The door can be locked to protect costly wines against unauthorised access. On models with a stainless-steel door, the EasyOpen lever-type handle ensures convenient opening action. And this handle can only be found on Miele refrigeration products. Models with a glass door feature a concealed handle strip – an exceptionally elegant design trait which does not interfere with the simplicity of the glass front design.

As for the interior of the wine storage unit, wine bottles are securely stored on six or seven shelves. The height-adjustable racks made of acacia wood can each take a load of up to 50 kg which corresponds to approximately 36 Bordeaux bottles. The appliance comes with labels for use in the front shelf trim to help keep track of wines.

Object of desire: Far too good to be hidden away. A glass door reveals a fine selection of wines without exposing good vintages to ultra-violet light. A hidden lock can be used to prevent unauthorised access.
